Dedication and Plea: Glory of Going On Part II
In the first article in this series examining the messages in BJ Palmer’s The Glory of Going On, I identified 5 basic themes.
Here’s the first with a guest article by my good friend and colleague, Dr. Lyle Koca, below.
Dedication
To those myriads of pioneers and their successors who ably followed in their footsteps down thru these years, helping to defend, protect, and preserve this philosophy, science, and art of a specific, pure, unadulterated, two-hands Chiropractic; to those loyal undeviating thousands who stood close-by, ardently espousing and generously developing an inner depth of consciousness into the inner Innate, attaining the enlightenment; to every disciple and patient who has stood hard-by during those lean years in the propagation of our helpful service to a sick world, we give our bounteous thanks which they so richly deserve.
Plea
(from the Forward)
Your author has a deeply embedded hope that what he is about to reveal will be clearly understood, accepted, and applied so that mankind will grasp the fullest significance of his relationships WITHIN himself.
What we shall explain WILL, in years to come, be accepted in toto as a working and workable plan. WE will not live to see that day, but our prophesy is that it WILL COME to pass; perhaps not possessed by OUR people, but by the great mass who will then know what WE NOW vividly and graphically foretell.
Our disclosures are what man seeks today in his closer communion in his companionship with his Creator for the practical and workable betterment of all mankind, that he may take his place in the GREAT scheme of things which his Designer so masterfully and skillfully intended him to be and do.
What Will You Do?
There comes a time when we must all choose our direction.
Fortunately, in most countries where chiropractors practice, we enjoy many freedoms. How we practice becomes a personal choice when state and national laws allow a plethora of objectives and modalities.
However, I believe we all have an ethical obligation to first and foremost understand what chiropractic is, as it was developed and intended, and to make a decision once that information has been properly weighed and understood.
This past week I asked my practice members before they were checked an interesting question. I asked them, “What significance does the number 760 represent in chiropractic?”
Of course, none of them knew the answer. However, once they heard it, they were blown away. One person replied, “Wow. What a gift.”
Yes, what a gift indeed.
Why
Guest article by Dr. Lyle Koca
Could you imagine going to jail for something that you are doing that has shown to be both effective and safe?
Could you imagine knowing that by “JUST” helping someone live their full potential, that another profession who “claims” to be concerned about helping humanity would be so low and dirty they would push to get you imprisoned? Even have others in your profession push to get you imprisoned.
Well, it happened in our profession.
Doctors of Chiropractic were arrested and some, approximately 760 of them, spent time in jail.
Why? Because they loved what they were doing…they loved serving families in their community. But yet for that love, they went to jail, and as a result some of them literally lost their own lives, and some who did get out of jail lost their lives or struggled tremendously.
They were arrested for being “unlicensed criminals”!! They were arrested and went to jail for helping “sick people get well” and “well people from getting sick.” They went to work with food in a brown paper bag, kissed their spouses and children goodbye knowing it really may mean goodbye, walked into their office with pride knowing the next person they adjusted might be the one that gets them adjusted. Their spouses were not spoken to in public and their kids humiliated at school…but they kept going on!!!
Why?
As many have told me when I asked them WHY…it was this common statement…”You would have to be a SOB not to stand up for Chiropractic.”
We need to honor them by standing strong..WILL YOU?
