Follow these 5 easy steps to get your picture in the search results and start increasing traffic to your website.
1. Set up a Google + Profile
If you already have a Google + profile you can skip this step. If not, follow this quick 15-Minute Google + Guide to get one set up.
2. Add rel=author Markup to your website’s header
Add the following html just before the </head> tag: <link rel=”author” href=”https://plus.google.com/YOUR PROFILE NUMBER HERE/”/>
3. Verify Your Email Address
Make sure you are logged in to Goggle and go to the following link to verify your email address.
4. Link Your Google + Profile to Your Website
Go to your Google + profile and click on “About.” Scroll down to “Links,” click “edit,” and then “add custom link” under the “Contributor to” section. Add your website here.
5. Link Your Content to Your Google + Profile
On your about page, and on your blog posts, add a link to your Google + profile as I have done below.
Check Your Work
Make sure that Google is recognizing you as the author of your website and posts by going to this link and entering your url.
What are you waiting for…
There is really no good reason for not having your Google + authorship set up on your website besides laziness.
Either on your part if you are managing your own website or on the part of your web company.
